ROGERS -- Jack King Vantine, 90, of Rogers died Dec. 2, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center. He was born Feb. 20, 1928, in Quanah, Texas, to William Bolen and Leota King Vantine. He served in the Marine Corps for eight years and then in the Army for 13 years and was active during World War II in the South Pacific. In 1942, he met Melva Jo Tidwell and they were married on June 13, 1944. He was a member of Southside Church of Christ in Rogers, where he was a past deacon and elder. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Melva Jo Vantine; sons, Rocky Vantine of Rogers, Joey Vantine and wife Donna of Rogers, Bruce Vantine and wife Julie of Kansas City, Mo.; daughter, Kay Roller and husband Darrell of Pea Ridge; grandchildren, Jennifer Little, Amy Wolf, Joey Denise Huston, Gregg Miller Vantine, Scott Vantine, James Vantine, Katee Jo Vantine and Ethan Roller. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Kenneth Konrad Vantine; two brothers; one sister; and two grandsons, Todd Vantine Wolf and George Robinson. Burial with military honors in Benton County Memorial Park. .
