Obituary for John Smith Keener. The Mountain Statesman. Grafton, Wv. Aug. 7, 1976. Abstract--age 81, of Countyr Club Rd., Grafton, died Aug. 6, at his home. Born in Taylor Co. on Oct. 29, 1894, s/o the late George and Sarah Lambert Keener. He was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie F. Boice Keener, who died March 8, 1955. He is survived by three children; Charles R. Keener of Bradenton, Fla., Mrs. Oraval (Betty) Ball of Grafton, and John M. Keener of Bridgeport; two brothers, Everett Keener of Grafton, and Dallas Keener of Point Pleasant; tow sisters, Mrs. Zela Shaw of Grafton, and Mrs. Wilma Sharps of Fairmont; seven grandchildren, Jerry G. Ball, Charles L. Keener, David A. Keener, Linda Keener, Minda Keener and John Mark Keener; and two great-grandchildren, Mathew and Andrew Ball. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Katherine; two brothers, Earl Keener and Robert Keener; two sister, Mrs. Dessie Hall and Mrs. Mina Wagner; and one great-grandson, Samuel Ball. He was formerly employed at the Hazel Atlas Glass Company and was a partner with his brother Everett in the Keener Brothers Grocery for many years. Burial was in the Woodsdale Memorial Park, Grafton.
