Bio

Lela Easton Stooksberry, 54, of Lamesa, died at 4 a.m. Tuesday in a Big Spring hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the W.Y. Goff Funeral Chapel of Commerce. Burial will be in the Rosemound Cemetery. Born April 6, 1919 in Delta County, he was the son of John R. and Effie S. Whiteside Stooksberry. A veteran of World War II, he served with the 102nd Infantry in Europe and was a recipient of the (Bronze Star in the Battle of he Bulge. He is survived by his father, John R. Slooksberry of Commerce; one son, Michael Stooksberry of Commerce; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Weems of Houston and Mrs. Edna Ruth While of Dallas; seven brothers, Hershel Stooksberry of Farmersville, Howard and Hubert Stooksberry of Dallas, Willie Joe Stooksberry of Farmersville, Howard and Hubert Stooksberry of Dallas, Willie Joe Stooksberry of San Angelo, Jimmie Stooksberry of Amarillo, Waydell Stooksberry of Farmers Branch and Finis Stooksberry of Richardson; and one granddaughter. Pallbarers will be John Weems, Richard Stooksberry, John R. Stooksberry, Jotin Kenneth Slooksberry, Stanley Stooksbcrry and Joe K. Slooksberry. Greenville Herald Banner April 18, 1973
