Finis Francis Stooksberry OBITUARY April 16, 1929 – February 5, 2018 IN THE CARE OF: Ted Dickey Funeral Home Finis Francis Stooksberry was born on April 16, 1929 to John Rush and Effie Sudie Stooksberry near the community of Yowell, Texas. Finis, known to some as Stooks, was the 10th and "La Fini" child in the family. His name was suggested by the doctor to encourage this to be the final child. He graduated high school early and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps at the age of 17. After completing his enlistment in the Marine Corps in February 1950, he became a student at East Texas Teachers College, now Texas A&M Commerce. He received a Bachelors in Economics in 1953. Finis met Martha Ann Hill at Sears in 1955. They were wed in 1956 and spent the next 61 years in love. They had a son Marty, born in 1964. Stooks shared his love of sports with Marty, especially golf. He later introduced his grandson, Leo Dipietro to golf as well. He loved all the time he spent with Leo, especially the time on the golf course. Stooks loved golf and cards, mostly hearts and spent most of his retirement doing what he loved. Stooks is the last surviving sibling. He is survived by his loving wife Martha; son Marty and his wife April Stooksberry; grandson Leo DiPietro; several cousins, numerous nephews and nieces.
