Barker Sr., Roy Dale Roy Dale Barker Sr. , 82, of Fairlie died Nov. 8, 2008, at the Medical Center of McKinney. Mr. Barker was born Sept. 18, 1926, in the Fairlie community, son of James Franklin and Maude Turner Barker. He married Shirley Walker on March 31, 1991, in Sulphur Springs. Mr. Barker was a retired federal railroad inspector and a retired Cotton Belt Railroad engineer. He was a veteran of World War II. He was the only person to score a 100 percent on all qualifying tests with the Cotton Belt Railroad. Survivors are his wife of Fairlie; two sons, Roy Dale Barker Jr. and wife Susan of Katy and Robert Allen Barker of Frisco; two daughters, Carol Ann Dozier of McKinney and Donna Gay Jacobo of Buckeye, Ariz.; a stepdaughter, Kimberly Kay Hayley of Sulphur Springs; five grandsons, Matt Barker, Chris Barker, Jeremy Keen, Alan Dozier and Jeremy Dunck; a granddaughter, Christina Pille; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Allen Barker of Greenville; three sisters, Lucille Lloyd, Ura Lee Farell and Maurine Stepter, all of Dallas and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Barker was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Harold Barker, Hollis Barker and Morris Barker; two sisters, Gladys Barker and Lilas Barker; and his first wife and mother of his children, Marie Hancock. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Fairlie Baptist Church in Fairlie followed by burial in Mount Carmel Cemetery in Wolfe City. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at R.W. Owens and Son Funeral Home in Wolfe City. Jeremy Keen, Andrew Meyer, Matt Barker, Jeremy Dunck, Allen Dozier, Jon Lebsack, Glen Farell and Clay Farell will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Dan Farell, Mike Barker, John Lloyd, Jim Lloyd, Steve Barker and Norman Stepter.
