COVINGTON NEWS, FRONT PAGE, JANUARY 15, 1920 CAPT. ELLINGTON DIES IN TENNESSEE Capt. A. H. Ellington, prominent conductor of the e Illinois Central Railway and esteemed citizen of Jackson for many years expired shortly after noon today at the Crook Sanatorium in the 77th year of his age. He had been connected with the IC Railway since moving to Jackson in 1869 until November 1, 1913 when he was retired on a pension. He was stricken on June 12 of this year and had been confined to the hospital since that time. His death is attributed mainly to senility. Capt. Ellington was born on a farm near Covington, Ga. on October 26, 1843. At the outbreak of the Civil War he enlisted in the Confederate Army and served throughout the Conflict between the States as a member of the Georgia Legion. He was wounded in the Battle of Gettysburg. Soon after the War he married to Miss Nannie P. Easley and moved to Texas where he lived for a short period d before coming to Jackson in July 1869. From this union six children were born two of whom died in infancy. The four surviving children are W. Ellington , contractor in Detroit , Michigan; J. F. Ellington , contractor , Chicago, Illinois , A. W. Ellington , Trainmaster of the IC Railroad and Mrs. Edna Agnew of this city . The mother of the surviving children died in 1891. Capt. Ellington married again in 1894 to Miss Lula Neely, daughter of Sam P. Neely of this county. The latter Mrs. Ellington died on February 19, 1915. Brief funeral services will be conducted a t the residence tomorrow afternoon n a t 3:00 o'clock by Dr. J. E. Brown of the First Presbyterian Church of which the deceased was a member. Only the funeral interment will take place in Riverdale e Cemetery with Umphlett & Griffin Funeral Parlor in charge. The deceased was a member of the local Elks Lodge, a senior member of the Jackson Branch, Order of R.R. Conductors, member of Lancelot Lodge No. 13 Knights of Pythias, Jackson (TENN) Sunday. The above notice of the death of Capt. A. H. Ellington, a brother of J. D. Ellington of Covington appeared in the Jackson Sun, December 22, 1919. Capt. Ellington had many friends in Newton County who were grieved to hear of his death.
