Bio
Daniel Ezra Perkins was born in Cincinattis, New York, October 25, 1840. He moved to Maukeeshau, Wisconsin, when ten years of age. At the outbreak of the Civil War he enlisted in Company H, 13th Wisconsin. He was among the first volunteers and served 4 years, 8 month, and 23 days and was honorably discharged. He was married to Miss Martha March of Horton, Iowa, May 17, 1871. To this union were born eleven children, ten daughters and one son; Mrs. Lucia Jacobs, Milan, Michigan; Mrs. Marcia McClure, West Union, Nebraska; Mrs. Carrie Vaught, Dunning, Nebraska; Mrs. Grace Miller, Ansley, Nebraska; Mrs. Edna Gates, Chillicothe, Missouri; Shalto Perkins, Pleasanton; Mrs. Ollie Brown, Waterville, Washington; Mrs. Saxa Fielding, Tecumseh, Nebraska; Mrs. Euzed Frantz, Grand Island, Nebraska; Mrs. Genevieve Gravley, Pleasanton, Nebrasaka. All were present at the funeral except Mrs. Frantz, illness keeping her at home. Mr. Perkins removed with his family to West Union, Custer County, Nebraska in 1885. From there he moved to Thomas County and in 1903 he come to Pleasanton. Mr. Perkins was converted in the year of 1873 and baptized into the fellowship of the Free Will Baptist church at Horton, Iowa. He was temperate in his life and charitable, a good husband and a kind father. After an absence of 44 years he returned to Wisconsin on a visit to the home of his sister and died very suddenly of heart failure, near his old home at Mukwonago Thursday, January 11, 1912, aged 71 years, 2 months, and 24 days. He leaves to mourn his loss a wife, eleven children, fourteen grandchildren, one brother, Clark G. Perkins, of Pleasanton, Nebraska, and one sister, Saxa Douglas, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The funeral was held at the Baptist Church in Ansley, Nebraska January 19, 1912 at 2 p.m., conducted by Rev. Brown. He was laid to rest in the Ansley Cemetery. 1 February 1912 THE PLEASANTON INDEPENDENT
