From Sam Wilkes, 20 Oct 2010: Starkville News 1 March 1946 J. P. Moreland Dies Thursday Adaton Resident Survived by Wife and Eight Children Mr. J. P. Moreland of Adaton died Thursday, Feb. 21, at his home there. He was born in 1881 in Slate Springs, Calhoun County, and was a member of the Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Donnie (should be Dannie) Lee Moreland, four daughters, Mrs. Rudy (should be Ruby) Etheridge, Mrs. Odean Newton, Starkville; Mrs. Eunice Thompson, West Memphis, Ark.; Mrs. L. M. Vowell, Vowell, Okla.; four sons, James Moreland, Grenada (should be Starkville); J. G. (should be J. Z.) Moreland, J. D. Moreland, Jack Moreland, Starkville, and 12 granchildren. Funeral services were conducted Friday by Rev. C. S. Mullins and burial followed in Adaton Cemetery.
