Bio

Starkville News 26 June 1959 Mrs. Dannie Betterton Moreland Services were held for Mrs. Dannie Betterson Moreland at the Adaton Baptist Church at 4:00 p.m. June 21. The Rev. Wright was in charage of the services and was assisted by Reverand Alexander and Reverend Mullins. Burial was at the Adaton Methodist Church, where her husband, John P. Moreland, was buried. Mrs. Moreland, who was 78, died Saturday in the home of Mrs. Fred Christopher of Adaton. She was a native of Calhoun County and moved to Starkville in 1941. She attended school in Calhoun County. She leaves seven children, Mrs. Ruby Etheridge, Mrs. Gregory THompson, Mrs. Willis D. Vowell, Mrs. Fred Christopher, James Moreland, J. Z. Moreland, and Jack Moreland, all of Starkville; three brothers, C. B. Betterton of Calhoun City, Philmore Betterton of Water Valley, and Kay Betterton of Luxpra, Arkansas; one sister, Mrs. Verna Gregg of Batesville; 19 grandchildren and 7 greatgrandchildren. Pallbearer were: James R. Ethridge, Charles Moreland, Hugh Moreland, Jerry Moreland, Dan Moreland, and Benny Thompson.
