Bio

Son of Frank J. & Frances (Nabity) Janky. Married to Ida Mae Vinecore on 9-30-1947 at Grand Island, NE. He was a trumpet player and formed The George Janky Orchestra in the mid 50's, playing all the clubs in Grand Island and surrounding areas and for many wedding dances. He sold his band and joined the Joe Lukesh Band, then Mel Pop Orchestra, Bill Knight orchestra and Tony Sydzyik Bands. He was a member of the city's Musical Band for many years. Survivors of the immediate family include his wife, Ida of Grand Island; a son and daughter-in-law, James and Mary Janky of Grand Island; a daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Clark Brown of Grand Island; and a sister, Helen Ruzicka of Grand Island. Additional survivors include four grandchildren, Amy Janky of Queen, N.Y., Adam Janky, Megan Brown and Justin Brown, all of Grand Island. His parents, two brothers, Francis and Joe Janky, sister, Rose Mary Mullen, preceded him in death.
