Carl J. "Rass" Starrett Graveside services for Carl J. "Rass" Starrett ,79,of Lenox,Mass.,formerly of Hopkins County ,were held at 1 p.m. Thursday ,Oct.24, at Fairmount Cemetery in Lee ,Mass.,under the direction of Kelly Funeral Home of Lee,Mass. Mr.Starrett died Tuesday,Oct.22,at his residence in Lenox,Mass. He was born on Feb.19,1923 ,in Sulphur Springs to Carl and Eula Ponder Starrett.He married Dorothy Carty in August 1948.She preceded him in death in May 1988 . Mr.Starrett attended school in Sulphur Springs .He worked for Tennessee Pipe Lines .He was in the U.S.Army Air Corps,having served in World War II .He lived in Lee until moving to Curtis in 1985. He was an avid walking,sports and garden enthusiast. Survivors include two sons,Terry L."Joey" Starrett of Belchertown,Mass.,and David C.Starrett of Hinsdale ,Mass.;one daughter ,Elizabeth Ann Griffin of Lee ,Mass.;two brothers ;Frank Starrett of Yantis , and Bennie Starrett of Mesquite;two sisters ,Betty Story and Melba Vaughan of Sulphur Springs ;and two grandchildren,both of Massachusetts . He was precede in death by his parents.
