Edwin "Jack" Taylor Sr., age 85 of Fairbury, NE, died Tuesday, July 15, 2025 in Fairbury, NE. He was born on July 21, 1939 to Max and Dorothy (Garhart) Taylor in O'Neill, NE. On June 6, 1964, he was united in marriage to Gayla Gilmore in York. Jack was a woodworker and was employed at Hughes Brothers in Seward, NE. He formerly worked at York Alpha Mill, and Cornhuskers Farms in Shickley, NE. Jack enjoyed camping, yard work, gardening, trips to Michigan, tinkering on cars, cookies and ice cream. He especially enjoyed spending time with his great grandkids. He is survived by his children Edwina Gay (Tom) Carr of York, NE, Jackie Rae (Dean, Sr) Soltesz of Ohiowa, NE, Ed (Terre) Taylor Jr. of Fairmont, NE, grandchildren Bryan Banta of Ottumwa, IA, Dean Jr (Nicole) Soltesz of Ohiowa, Desiree (Kiefer) Bures of Geneva, NE, John (Mila) Soltesz of Omaha, NE, Tom Carr Jr. of York, and Jackson, Haley, and Destany Taylor of Fairmont, NE, six great-grandkids Aydin and Bryliene Banta, Autumn Horton, Dean III and Zander Soltesz, and Winry Soltesz, siblings Don (Sharon) Taylor of York, and Loretta Walker of Bad Axe, MI; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one brother and one sister. Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 19, 2025 at Metz Chapel in York. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in York.
