Bio

Died in Vermillion, South Dakota, Monday evening, June 13, 1881, Eliphaz Washburn, aged 73 years, 11 months and 27 days. Deceased was born in Vermont in 1807 and was married to Miss Rowanna (Roana) Hill in the 1836, who survives him. In 1852 moved to Rockford, Illinois where he lived on a farm 21 years, moved to this territory 9 years ago and has bee farming on Star Prairie until about 4 months ago when he sold his farm and moved to town where he has been living with his son until his death. Deceased was well known in this county being a genial wholesouled man, a friend to all and an enemy to none. He leaves a large family of grown up children and many warm friends who deeply feel the loss. The family have the sincere sympathy of the whole community.
