Herald Coaster, January 20, 1998: Funeral services for Barbara Dudek Vacek, 94, of Rosenberg, will be held on Thurs., Jan. 22, at 10 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Rosenberg, with interment following at West Gethsemane Catholic Cemetery in Rosenberg. Father Dan Warden will officiate the services. Deacon David Mitchell will conduct a rosary service on Wed., Jan. 21, at 6:30 p.m. at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg. Visitation will begin on Wed., Jan. 21, at 4 p.m. at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home, 3900 B.F. Terry Blvd. (FM-2218 and Hwy. 59) in Rosenberg. Mrs. Vacek was born on Aug. 24, 1903 in Stara Hammery, Czechoslovakia to John Dudek and Mary Liska Dudek. She passed away on Jan. 19, 1998 in Richmond. She was a member of Hoy Rosary Catholic Church and Holy Rosary Altar Society. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vojt L. Vacek; parents, John and Mary Dudek; grandson, Mark Joseph; sisters, Anna Gajewski, Toni Chmelik, Agnes Bohac, Johanna Kalinec, and Mary Kubala; and a brother, John Dudek. She is survived by her daughters, Cecelia Joseph and her husband, George, of South San Francisco, CA; a son, Edward T. Vacek and his wife, Violet, of Rosenberg; grandchildren, Jim Joseph of South San Francisco, CA, Hunter and Holly Vacek of Rosenberg, Stacy Vacek Norman and her husband, David, of San Antonio; and great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Joseph of South San Francisco, CA.
