Herald Coaster, October 25, 1999: Funeral services for Edward T. Vacek, 64, of Rosenberg, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Rosenberg, with interment following at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg. Father Don Schwarting and Father Howard Drabek will officiate the services. Pallbearers are James Vacek, Royce Gaubatz, Delbert Luedeke, Richard Parthum, Nelson Psencik, Keith Blizzard, T.A. Bohac, and Bobby Powell. A rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg. Visitation will be held until 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Mr. Vacek was born May 23, 1935 in Fairchilds to Vojt L. Vacek and Barbara Dudek Vacek. He passed away Oct. 24, 1999 at Polly Ryon Hospital in Richmond. He retired in 1990 after 36 years with the U.S. Post Office in Rosenberg. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Mr. Vacek was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and past president and secretary/treasurer of the National Association of Letter Carriers. He served in the United States Army, Special Weapons Unit at Sandia Base in Albuquerque, M.M. and at the Nevada Test Site. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vojt and Barbara Vacek, and a nephew, Mark Joseph. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Violet Gaubatz Vacek of Rosenberg; children, Hunter L. Vacek and his fiance, Mary Kana, of Rosenberg, Holly L. Vacek and her fiance, Steve Neill, of Cypress, and Dr. Stacy L. Norman and her husband, David, of Kingwood; a sister, Cecelia Joseph and her husband, George, of South San Francisco, Ca.; and a nephew, Jimmy Joseph of South San Francisco, Ca.
