Bio

Floyd Cecil Sickler, 92, of Idaville, IN, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2025. He was born on September 7, 1932, the son of Cecil and Laura (Kellenburger) Sickler. Floyd grew up in Reynolds, IN and graduated from Reynolds High School, where he excelled as a member of the basketball team. On December 29, 1951, he married the love of his life, Norma Jean Welte, to whom he was deeply devoted for 66 years. Their life together was filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Floyd dedicated over 40 years of hard work to Carter Block, building a career marked by dedication and integrity. Even in retirement, he stayed active by delivering parts for Monticello's NAPA Auto Parts, enjoying the camaraderie and sense of purpose the job brought him. Floyd was also a member of the Monticello Libanus Masonic Lodge #154 for more than 50 years. Floyd was a man who found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved fishing trips to Michigan with his family, playing euchre with friends, and tending to his impressive vegetable garden. He was also well known for his candy-making talents, especially his homemade fudge, peanut brittle, and bon-bons, which he generously shared with family, friends and strangers. Floyd was a lifelong member of Guernsey Church of the Brethren, where he also volunteered his time and energy to many church functions. His faith and devotion to his community were central to his life. Floyd was known for his gentle spirit, kindness, and unwavering love for those around him. Above all, Floyd was a dedicated family man. He took immense pride in supporting his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, never missing a game, school event, or family gathering. His love for sports extended beyond his family, as he was a longtime fan of Pioneer High School athletics and a passionate supporter of Purdue basketball. Floyd's legacy is one of kindness, devotion, and a deep love for family and friends. He will be dearly missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Floyd was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter, Carol Marie Sickler; granddaughter, Melissa Jean Sickler; and eight siblings. He is survived by three sons; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Visitation will be on Monday, March 31, 2025 from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 12:30 PM in Fred L.
