Bio

Vera Maye Carnes, 90, passed away Thursday, June 28, 2007. Funeral: 1:30 p.m. Monday in Mount Olivet Chapel. Burial: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Mount Olivet Funeral Home. Vera was born May 4, 1917, in Tioga to Allie Mae and James Fulmer. She accepted Christ at age 9. She was a member of the DAV and a lifelong member of the Ladies Auxiliary in the VFW. She worked in the restaurant industry the majority of her life. Vera, along with her cooking, will be missed by her family and all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband of 21 years, Ross H. Carnes. Survivors: Son, Leland Howard; daughters, Dana Worsham, Roberta Shields Bernold; grandchildren, Susanna Shields, Brooke Bernold, Fawn Aldrich, Ty Howard, Sheila O'Dell and Josh Worsham; great-grandchildren, Matthew, Garrett and Shanna; brother, James B. Fulmer; sisters, Verda Cox and Faye Green. Published in the Star-Telegram on 7/1/2007.
