Daniel L. Howard Jr., 90, passed away Monday, June 16, 2008, in Azle. Funeral: 10 a.m. Thursday in White's Azle Chapel. Interment: Laurel Land Memorial Park, Fort Worth. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at White's Azle Funeral Home. Daniel was born Aug. 6, 1917, in Fort Worth to Daniel and Fannie Howard. He was known for his wonderful sense of humor. Daniel worked for Texas & Pacific and later Union Pacific Railroad for 43 years as an engineer. He was mayor of Pelican Bay during the mid-1980s. Daniel was a Christian and member of Lighthouse Harbor Church in Pelican Bay. He was a supporter of Cal Farley's Boys Ranch and the Billy Graham Ministry. Daniel was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters, Gertrude Honza, Willie Ray Jenkins, Gladys Morland and Virginia Wernsing. Survivors: His wife, Ruth Howard of Azle; son, Danny Howard III of Covington; daughter, Marie Anderson and husband, James, of Tyler; sons, Larry Joe Howard of Covington and Leland Howard and wife, Donna, of Justin; daughter, Dana Worsham and husband, Frank Frasier, of Burleson; 18 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; sister, Joy McGuffey of Fayetteville, Ark.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
