Services for David L Murphy 60, Rapid Valley, will be held 2 pm Saturday at Behrens Mortuary. He died Thursday at his home. The Rev. Wil Walker will officiate. Cremation will follow the services. Visitation will be at the mortuary from noon until 8 pm today and from 9 am until time of service Saturday. He was born July 22, 1930 in Rapid City to David and Alice (Simons) Murphy. He lived in Red Owl for six years and moved to Rapid City in 1936. He graduated from Rapid City High School in 1948 and served in the Navy from November 1948 until March 1950. He married Arlene Shavlik October 14, 1950 in Rapid City. He farmed all of his life and worked the last 23 years for West River electric. He was a past member of the school boards of White Eagle Grade School and Douglas School District. Survivors include his wife, four sons Dennis of Bismark ND, Steven and Jeffrey both of Rapid Valley and Wesley of Firesteel and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister
