William "Bill" Arthur Pierce, 78, passed away at home "The Hill" during a lovely sunset surrounded by many loved ones on June 20th, 2024 Born on August 30th, 1945, to Walter and Lucille Pierce, Bill was one of seven children. He could usually be found with his beloved family, hunting, fishing, sitting on the back porch, or watching football. Bill proudly served in the United States Army, where he received a Purple Heart following his tour in Vietnam. After starting his own family, he founded a business working on fire trucks and later joined the Elsanor Volunteer Fire Department. For a short time in the '80s, he served as Volunteer Fire Chief. He was a talented machinist who continued to work on fire engines for years afterward and completed his career as an aerospace machinist in Mobile, Alabama. Bill was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle. Known for his deep love of family, Alabama football, and pride in serving his country, particularly alongside his recon platoon; his legacy will live on. Bill, known as "Billy" to his recon buddies, was a man ready to help anyone. He was understanding and overcame many difficult times in his life. Because of Bill, those around him knew what perseverance, love, and endurance truly meant. Obituary published to the website of Cason Funeral Service 22 June 2024.
