Mr. Jerry Pierce September 28, 1938 - March 16, 2016 Jerry Pierce, age 77, a native of Elsanor, AL and a resident of Rosinton, AL passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 16, 2016 surrounded by his family. Mr. Pierce retired from Scott Paper Company. He was a true southern gentleman. A great husband, father and a terrific “Pop”, Jerry was a family man. He enjoyed coaching his children in sports and helping other children in the community. Mr. Pierce had the greenest of thumbs as he always had a garden and he loved woodworking too. He was a true optimist and loved people. Roll Tide Roll. He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Lucille Pierce, sister, Iris Jean Ryals and brother, Gary Pierce. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Betty Sue Pierce of Rosinton, AL; three sons, Wally (Brigitte) Pierce, Donnie (Gayle) Pierce both of Loxley, AL, Marty (Anne-Marie) Pierce of Chelsea, AL; two sisters, Joanna (Denson) Glover of Rosinton, AL, Gloria Mixon of Bay Minette, AL; two brothers, Ollie Rex (Darlene) Pierce of Rosinton, AL, Bill Pierce of Elsanor, AL, grandchildren, Cody Pierce & Ashlyn Pierce, Cullen & Logan Pierce, Caroline & Cameron Pierce, step granddaughters, Avery, Addison & Abby Patterson. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Loxley Church of God with burial in the Greenwood Cemetery, Loxley, AL. A visitation will be held prior to the service at the church beginning at 12:30 p.m. Pallbearers are: Theron Pettis, Todd Stewert, Steve Williams, Tony Ryals, Brent Pierce, David Petelinski. Honorary pallbearers are Buddy Hardy, Andy Anderson, J.R. Ellerman, Milton Vice, Horace Sherman, Roy McNeil, Bill Hallmark and Allen Russell. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Greenwood Cemetery Fund, 14750 Co. Rd. 66, Loxley, AL 36551.
