Wilbur F. "Bob" Roberts Sr., 90, of Amarillo died Friday, May 2, 2008. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Llano Cemetery with the Rev. Clifton A. Mann officiating. Memorial services will be at a later date in Crossroads Baptist Church in Odessa. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Wilbur was born Jan. 28, 1918, in the Red Oak community to A.O. Roberts and Maudie Bowers Roberts. He completed his school in Post Oak. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps Reserve in Marietta, Ga. On Aug. 16, 1942, he married Nettie L. Elkins of Red Oak. They had been happily married for 66 years. After the war, he began working in the auto-body repair business, where he continued to work for 30 years. He then owned and operated Auto Damage Appraisal Service of Midland until his retirement in 1993. He was very active for many years in the Grandview Lions Club, where he served as president in 1991-92. He was Grandview Lion of the Year in 1994-95, District 2-T3 Lion of the Year 1998-99 and a director of the Texas Lions Camp for Disabled Children in Kerrville. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Odessa. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters. Survivors include his wife, Nettie Roberts of Amarillo; a son, W.F. "Corky" Roberts and wife Tonya of Amarillo; two granddaughters, Stacy and husband Dr. Brad Lott of Dallas and Tasha and husband Clint Pierce of Amarillo; three great-grandsons, Mason and Weston Pierce, both of Amarillo, and Brandon Lott of Los Angeles.
