Bernice Pokorny, 72, of Taylor passed away Monday, May 19, 2008 at Seton Hospital in Round Rock. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 22, 2008 at Providence Funeral Home Chapel. Celebration of Life Mass will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 23, 2008 at St. Mary's Catholic Church officiated by Msgr. Lonnie Urban. Burial will follow at Taylor City Cemetery. Bernice Teresa Klepac Pokorny was born on October 3, 1935 in Corn Hill, Texas to Frank and Angeline (Karkoska) Klepac. She married Paul Pokorny, Jr. on July 8, 1966 in Georgetown, Texas. Bernice was a classic beauty and a true southern lady. She was known for her unique laugh and the twinkle in those unforgettable blue eyes. Bernice was very organized, detailed oriented, and was an excellent secretary and business partner in the family construction business for many years. She never forgot birthdays or anniversaries, and there was not a piece of information she could not locate if needed. Bernice and Paul loved to dance and spent Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Wednesdays throughout their married life doing just that. She adored the coast, traveling and fishing. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Alphonse Klepac, John Klepac, Frank Klepac, Vincent (Jimmy) Klepac, and sisters, Bertha (Betty) Michalek, and Mary Michalek. Bernice is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Paul Pokorny, Jr., a brother Norbert Klepac and his wife Helen, a sister, Agnes Vanacek, sisters-in-law Lillian Klepac and Albina Klepac, brother-in-law Eugene Pokorny and numerous other relatives and friends. Pallbearers will be Bobby Klepac, Bill Klepac, John Klepac, Bobby Tomas, Joey Susan and Lance Betak. Honorary pallbearers will be Edward Betak, Charlie Betak, Dwight Blahuta, Mike Daffin, James De Vries, Fred Zucknick, Alex Gola, Raymond Michalek, Paul Mikulencak, Dennis Pokorny, Eugene Pokorny and Anton Pokorny. Memorials may be given to St. Mary's Catholic Church, Taylor Brethren Church or the charity of your choice in Bernice Pokorny's memory.
