Bio
Inez (as she was known), was the daughter of Leo Leafridge & Sallie Dee [Dennis] White, of Maud Bowie County Texas. The grand daughter of Thomas Monroe & Marthia Olivia [Harris] White, also of the Maud area. Her parents and Grandparents and even great grand parents, Ben & Polly, are all buried at the Center Ridge Cemetery in Maud Bowie County Texas. Lola Inez White, married Chester Helms Merritt, on Aug 29, 1942, in Mt Pleasant Texas. They had three known children. Her husband was a WWII Veteran, serving in the US Army Air Corp. Inez's known siblings were: Frances, Charles, Mary, Edward, Nancy, and Lewis. The White family arrived in Bowie County Texas in 1846, in a wagon train headed by Inez's Gr Gr grand parents, Elias & Anne [Gibbs] White, arriving from Union County South Carolina, where the White family arrived in 1788, in an area called Cross Keys, in Union County. It appears prior to this time, the White's were in Caswell County North Carolina, at least from 1780-1787, on the border with Virginia. Elias & Anne White, are buried on their former property, at the Creed Cemetery in Redwater Bowie County Texas. Inez's 3xGr Grand Parents, were Robert Sr & Mildred "Milly" [Whitehead] White. This is as far back as the White family is currently known.
