Bio

Emil Baloun, 24, born Saline Co., Nebr., son of John & Annie (Pochyski) Baloun, and Jennie Coci (sic), 18, born Saline Co., Nebr., daughter of James & Jennie (Kirkek) Coci (sic), were married February 11, 1908 at Hebron. (Source: Thayer County, NE Marriage Records) ======================= Jennie Baloun, daughter of Vaclav and Jennie Koci, was born on August 27, 1890, in Saline County, Nebr., and passed away at the Republic County Hospital, Belleville, Ks., on July 18, 1973, at the age of 82 years, 10 months and 21 days. She received her education at the Pleasant Hill School, and was united in marriage to Emil Baloun on Feb. 11, 1908. To this union five children were born. She moved to the Chester community in 1908. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Chester, Nebr. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Emil; one daughter, Evelyn; and one son, Henry. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Gus (Clara) Ray of Hubbell; two sons, William Baloun of Hebron and Herman Baloun of Belleville; two sisters, Mrs. Francis Souchek of Deweese and Mrs. Emma Stichka of Ontario, Calif.; two brothers, William Koci of Ong and Frank Koci of Hastings; six grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Friday, July 20th, at the United Methodist Church of Chester at 2:00 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Opal Crounse. Singers were Mrs. Jack Long and Mrs. Maurice Mitchell, with Mrs. Dolan Frye, organist. The casket bearers were Lyle Schmit, Kenneth Ray, Rodney Baloun, E.C. Thompson, Berwyn Petersen, Eddie Souchek. Interment was in the Chester Cemetery, Bachelor-Faulkner-Dart Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.
