Fort Bend Herald, February 6, 2024: Ivan Richter, 92, of Rosenberg, Texas, passed away on February 1, 2024. Ivan was born in Needville, Texas on June 28, 1931 to William Charles and Ida (Warnecke) Richter. He graduated from Needville High School. He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1952 where he served for 2 years, spending time in Korea as a tank gunner. After being discharged from the military he was hired by Dow Chemical where he was employed for over 35 years, retiring as a supervisor in the transportation department responding to hazardous chemical leaks in tank cars across the United States. He retired at an early age, and needing something to occupy his time, he purchased a tractor and a mower to start his own business. He handled bids and land all over Fort Bend County. Prior to entering the military, Ivan married the love of his life, Lucille Henrichsen. They were married for 51 years and were blessed with two children, Sharon and Mark. Ivan is survived by his daughter, Sharon Baca and husband, Jim; son, Mark Richter and wife, Janet; grandchildren Amanda Toms and husband, Toms John, Brett Baca and wife, Kaitlin, Derek Baca and husband, Matthew, Jennifer Richter and fiancé, Joseph, Lauren Chambers and husband, Will; three great-grandchildren, Emerson Baca, and Micah and Jude Toms. He is preceded in death by both of his parents; his loving wife, Lucille; and brother, Harvey Richter. Ivan was a loyal member of the Rosenberg community, accumulating many lifelong friends. He loved traveling with his RV buddies across the country having numerous adventures. He was a faithful member of Saint John's United Church of Christ where he recently, at his advanced age, took his really old tractor and plowed up a community garden. He was always ready to help anyone in need. A funeral service is scheduled on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg, Texas. The family will receive guests from 2:00 p.m. until service time. Finally, and most importantly, Ivan requested visitors to wear jeans and be comfortable for the ceremony.
