Deanna May Reetz, 85, of York, NE went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 22, 2024. Born January 7, 1939 in Friend, NE she was the fourteenth of sixteen children born to August and Mary (DeCamp) Jensen. Deanna graduated from York High School in 1957, was united in marriage to David Reetz on November 24, 1957 and they were blessed with three children. She graduated from Grand Island School of Beauty in 1960 and worked as a cosmetologist for 50 years, 45 of those years she was in her own shop, Deanna's Beauty Salon. Deanna was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church – LCMS in York, NE. She sang in the church choir, taught Sunday school, helped with VBS, delivered meals on wheels and served Christmas dinners. She was also a member of the Smokey Lassies and National Cosmetology Association. She loved playing pitch and was so proud of her championship at the Thayer Pitch Tournament which she won with her mother-in-law, Irene Reetz. She was also very proud to have 68 first generation nieces and nephews. Upon retirement, Dee and Dave enjoyed golf, fishing, scuba diving, Vegas, many adventures in their camper, and spending spare time in the summer at Johnson Lake where their cabin was over flowing with friends, family, food and fun. Deanna is survived by her husband of 57 years; her 3 children and their spouses; , 10 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 5 siblings and their spouses; her sister-in-law and brother-in-law. She is also survived by her in-laws. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Robert, Allen, Gale, James, August, Lorraine Darling, Marilyn Lortz, Betty Lewis, MaryAnn Wright and Edith Stuart, in-laws George and Irene (Vorderstrasse) Reetz, Al and Barb Shearer, Paul and Gayle Reetz and Tom Reetz, sister-in-law Rosemary Reetz and 1 great-grandson, George McCall. Special thanks to Nurse Deb Hansen and staff of York General Hearthstone as well as Tabitha Hospice for their kindness and compassion for Deanna in her final years. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at Faith Lutheran Church in York. Following the funeral service, Deanna will be cremated.
