Bio

Patsy Ann (Pat) Kitchens Bozek passed away on Tuesday, January 9th, after a long illness at Methodist Hospital in Midlothian, Texas surrounded by her loved ones on her 80th birthday. Patsy was born in Emhouse, Texas on January 9, 1944, the fifth child to Tommie and Mamie (Westberry) Kitchens. She was a graduate of Ennis High School. In 1961 Patsy married Johnny Lane Rankin and raised two children together, David & Leah (and their "other" daughter Debbie Watson). On October 12, 1991 Patsy married the love of her life William David (Bill) Bozek and they made their home in Bardwell before moving to Scurry in 1997. Shortly after Bill's death, she moved back to Ennis in 2009 to be closer to her children. Patsy loved to travel with her family and friends. She loved going to the mountains to see and play in the snow. Snowmobiling was a favorite activity, along with feeding and watching the wildlife, especially the deer. She loved spending time with her family. Galveston was a favorite vacation spot for many years, making lifetime memories. An avid gardener and a lover of plants & flowers, Pat was known for her perfectly manicured yard. She loved being outside and spent much of her free time under her covered patio. She always had a glass of cold iced tea and something sweet for family & friends to enjoy. Patsy retired from MBNA in Dallas as an Executive Administrator & Community Affairs Assistant. She loved her job and was passionate about her work as it gave her the ability to serve others and make lots of acquaintances. Patsy was an exemplary employee for over 20 years. Prior to her working in Dallas, Patsy worked for the US Postal Service in Ennis as a rural mail carrier for a number of years. She also worked at Ennis Business Forms in the old offices on NE Main Street for many years. Patsy loved her Lord & Savior and was a faithful member of Fundamental Baptist Church of Palmer, Texas until she was unable to attend services due to her failing health. She would then watch online from the comfort of her home. She loved serving in the VBS ministry in the summers and could always be found helping in the church kitchen when preparing and serving meals. She truly had a servant's heart. Patsy (mostly known as Momma Pat, Nanny, Nanna and Sis) was a loving Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Cousin and Friend. She will be missed by all who knew her. She loved deeply and always made everyone feel like family. Patsy is preceded in death by her husband Bill Bozek, parents Tom and Mamie Kitchens, two brothers, Thomas Kitchens and Curtis Kitchens, two sisters, Shirley Farmer Bishop and Joy Dlabaj, son-in-law Randy Hinchliffe, step-daughter Debbie Bozek Prachyl and step-son Andrew "Andy" Bozek. She is survived by her brother Jerry Kitchens and wife Terry of Ennis, son David Rankin and wife Melanie of Ennis, daughter Leah Hinchliffe of Ennis, other daughter Debbie Watson and husband Lance, son James David Bozek and wife Jami Lynn of Eden, daughters Terri Gillen and husband Danny of Mildred and Brenda Jones of Rockwall, 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, along with several cousins and dear lifetime friends. A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, January 19, 2024, 1pm at Fundamental Baptist Church in Palmer, 209 W. Jefferson Street. Visitation will be held Thursday evening January 18th from 6-8pm at JE Keever Mortuary, 408 N. Dallas Street in Ennis. Interment will immediately follow the service at Myrtle Cemetery in Ennis under the direction of JE Keever Mortuary, Inc.
