Bio

Mrs. Mamie C. Kitchens, 86, died Monday, May 24, 2004, at the Ennis Care Center. She was born Aug. 13, 1917 in Primrose, TX, the daughter of John J. and Irene Johns Westberry. She was reared in Ellis County and attended school in Rankin. On Dec. 30, 1933 she was married to Tommie Kitchens. After their marriage they lived in the Rankin Community. Mr. Kitchens preceded her in death on June 20, 1983. Her enjoyment was to cook and feed others and she loved spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of the Bardwell Baptist Church. She is survived by 3 sons, Thomas and his wife, Martha Kitchens of Ennis, Curtis Kitchens of Oregon, Jerry and his wife, Terry Kitchens of Ennis; 3 daughters and their husbands, Pat and Bill Bozek of Scurry, Shirley and Billy Bishop of Ennis, Joy and Milton Dlabaj of Streetman; a brother, T.L. Westberry of Huffman, TX; 26 grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren; and 10 great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Keever Chapel with Larry Poarch and Brad Ryder officiating. Interment will be in the Elm Branch Cemetery in Bardwell under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Print Obituary
