Bio

Funeral services for Walton Johnson, who died Saturday night at 8:10 o'clock at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Perkins, at Baxter, after an illness of one year, were held Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Baxter Baptist Church. The services were conducted by the Rev. R. E. Bost of Athens, with interment following in the Davis Cemetery. The son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Johnson, and was married to Miss Sarah Jane Calhoun in that city in 1894. They moved to Athens in 1925 and was employed by the State Highway Department for seven years. He then moved to Baxter, and was engaged in farming there until he retired about one year ago. He was a member of the Baptist church for 44 years. Mrs. Johnson died in 1980 and was buried in the Davis Cemetery. Surviving are one son J. W. Johnson of McAllen; two daughters, Mrs. Perkins of Baxter and Mrs. Ollie T. Oaks of Fort Worth; one brother, G. W. Johnson of Leesville, and 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
