Bio

Livy Ann Cavin Haile was the daughter of Joseph Cavin and Polly Keele. She was the oldest of three children in this first marriage of Joseph Cavin. Livy Ann married Mead J. Haile in Bedford County, TN about 1835. They followed her father and his second wife to MO by 1855. They had 5 sons who fought in the Civil War....4 for the Confederacy and 1 for the Union. Two sons, William Carrol and Christopher Columbus, died in the war. About the end of the Civil War they moved to Texas; two children who had married in MO remained there. The rest of the family moved to Texas in mass. It appears they lost all of their resources in the war. They did not own any land after they moved to Texas. Livy Ann died of pneumonia in 1882. In 1889 Mead J. moved back to MO to live with his oldest son, Jackson Overstreet. Livy Ann's old stone was broken in half. Even though we had the old stone repaired, we were afraid her grave was going to be lost. In 2002 a group of her descendants bought a new stone for her and placed it with the old stone. Several of their children could not be linked to her for various reasons... Jackson Overstreet Haile (March 12, 1837-February 13, 1905), buried Rose Hill Cemetery, Christian Co, MO William Carrol Haile (abt. 1839-April 04, 1864), died Pleasant Hill, LA; CSA casualty. Christopher Columbus Haile (abt. 1841-August 10, 1861, died Wilson Creek, MO; CSA casualty) Mary Elizabeth Haile (abt. 1842-April 07, 1873, place of burial for her and her husband, James R. White, unknown; Cooke Co, TX presumed)
