HARDIN - William "Bill"' Watson and his wife farmed and ranched near Sargent, Neb., until moving to Hardin in 1941. He worked for the Holly Sugar Corp. in Hardin for several years in addition to farming and ranching in the area and working as a self trucker and hide and fur buyer. He retired in 1975. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening and never let an opportunity for playing cards go by. He especially enjoyed reading and visiting with family and friends, and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. Mr. Watson, 71, died Sunday morning in his home after a long illness. He was born and raised in Belmont, Neb., a son of Robert and Effie E. Watson. He attended country schools in the Belmont area and on Nov. 18, 1935, married Rosie V. Wolf in Sargent, Neb. Survivors include his wife; four sons, Donald and Robert, both of Hardin, and David and William, both of Lodge Grass; four daughters, Marguerite J. Richard of Snowflake, Ariz., Mary M. Oedekoven of Billings, Thersa A. Cook of Birnamwood, Wis., and Sharon R. Denniston of Butte; two brothers, Lester of Raymond, Neb., and Cecil of Hardin; 24 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Bullis Funeral Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial in the Hardin Cemetery..
