Bio

Robert Henry Zabojnik passed away peacefully on May 25, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He turned 87 on May 15, 2023 and through those years he loved his family unconditionally. Robert was born in Telico, Texas to John P. and Aloise (Pavalick) Zabojnik on May 15, 1936. He graduated from St. John Catholic School in May of 1955. He married the love of his life, Mary (Kovar) Zabojnik on September 10, 1960. He served his country in the United States Army during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Robert was a pipe fitter and welder for Local Union 100 until he retired at the age of 65. He served as a member of the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada for 50 years. Robert was a loving and devoted husband and father; and doted on his grandchildren like they were a great treasure. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening, and staying outside in his workshop until dark working on some kind of project daily. He was particularly good at preserving the vegetables he grew in his garden like beets and canning his cucumbers to make pickles. He made jelly from his peach and plum trees and wine from the wild grapes that grew along the roadway. He was a hardworking man with high morals. Robert is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Mary (Kovar) Zabojnik; three children: Mark Zabojnik and wife Donna of The Colony; Deanna (Zabojnik) Inman and husband Larry of Coppell; and Glenn Zabojnik and wife Julie of Ennis; grandsons: Trevor Inman and wife Christy; Tyler Zabojnik and wife Bailey; and Logan Zabojnik; and granddaughters: MacKenzie Inman; Lindsay (Zabojnik) Trudell and husband Trevor; and Morgan Zabojnik; sister: Louise Slovak of Ennis; and sister: Frances Chudej of Dallas; along with several nieces and nephews.
