Bio

Geraldine Stephens Gass, age 83 of Cowan, passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2023. A native of Franklin County, she was born in Winchester on May 13, 1940, to the late Benny Gordon and Nancy Jane (Steele) Stephens. Before her retirement, she was employed as a CNA at Southern Tennessee Regional Health Systems. In her spare time, she enjoyed quilting, sewing, and traveling when she was able. Geraldine will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor. She was a member of Oaklawn Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Alma Fowler, Betty Miller, Marie Askins, Ruby Bishop, and Shirley Dimos; brother, Benny Stephens; daughter, Michelle Shetters; and son, Robby Gass. Geraldine is survived by her loving husband of sixty-four years, John Gass; daughter, Jerry (Randy) Sadler; grandchildren, Heather Hershman (Lee Hudson), Jennifer Smith, and Ryan (Charity) Sadler; great-grandchildren, Landon Hershman, Bella Grace Hershman, Sydney Hudson, Eli Smith, Ellison Smith, Emery Martin, Adan Durm, Addie Sadler, Ashton Sadler, and Silas Sadler; sister, Wanda (Ben) Forrester; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 5:30-8pm on Friday, June 30, 2023, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 4:30 pm on Saturday, July 1, 2023, in the Chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with Chaplin Jerry Stewart officiating. Interment will be at Cowan Montgomery Cemetery.
