Benny Leslie Dwight Stephens was born on July 20, 1951 to his mother Nancy Jane(b.Dec 17, 1909-d.May 23, 1983) and father Bennie Gordon(b.Feb 10, 1908=d.Oct 9, 1986.) He had seven sisters; Geraldine, Wanda, Ruby, Alma, Betty, Shirley, and Marie. He got married to my grandmother Edith Marie Sims(whom is still living) on March 20, 1971 at the courthouse(Franklin County Clerk) on the square in Winchester, Tennessee. Benny Stephens wrote tons of Gospel songs himself and had his own Gospel band named The Stephens Family. He played Acoustic, Banjo, Mandolin, Drums, Harmonica, and the Tambourine. He could also sing like an angel. One of my favorite songs that he wrote was titled "I'll Fly Away"(Oh Lord, I'll Fly Away) He enjoyed hunting, especially with his Bow, and his favorite game were Turkeys, but he even killed and had a coyote stuffed. He also loved keeping a pond to keep catfish in and he really enjoyed arrowhead hunting:) He was raised and spent most of his life on Keith's Springs Mountain. Although, he did travel a lot and always told me that the Carolinas were the prettiest parts of the world that he'd ever seen. He passed away from us on June 11, 2008 from a massive heart attack. He suffered all his life with pain, but he never let it show, just kept a smile, cheery little blushed cheeks, and a warm and welcoming personality that anyone in this world would have loved.:) He was born with a hole in his heart which was fixed with surgery, and he was also born with clubbed feet which resulted in him having to wear braces on his legs for years. He made it through all of that only to deal with a horrible case of hour in his legs. Like I said though, even through all of his pain, he was so happy. He and my grandmother Edith Marie Sims had only two children. Their son Ben Daniel Stephens whom had two of his own kids with Cynthia West and their names are; Ben Alex Stephens and Clint Walker Stephens. Their daughter Tiffany Marie Stephens whom had two of her own kids with Oscar Elliott and their names are; Jessica Marie Elliott(ME) and Jennifer Jade Elliott. Then I, Jessica Marie Elliott, had two of my own children with Kyle Prince and their names are; Bently Richard Prince and Ryan William Prince(Benny Leslie Dwight Stephens' Great Grandsons) MAY YOU REST IN PEACE PAPA BENNY. WE LOVE YOU TO INFINITY AND BEYOND:)
