Bio

Otis was born in Huntington, VT. He was the fifth child of Gideon and Lucinda (Grandy) Taft and the seventh of Gideon's 28 children. When he was 21, Otis married Charlotte Sprague on July 4, 1821. They had at least seven children, Cyrus, Lewis, Austin, Lucy, Prudance, John and Minerva. Five months after the death of Charlotte, Otis married again. On February 19, 1863, at the age of 62, Otis married Abigail Porter. Otis died at age 82 in Vermont.
