Bio

Lewis was born in Huntington, VT, near the end of 1824. He was the son of Otis and Charlotte (Sprague) Taft. In 1848, Lewis married Delana Truax. They had four children, Charles, William, Mary and George. George died when he was almost three in 1863. After Delana's death in 1877, Lewis stayed a widow for nearly seven years. On November 11, 1884, at the age of 60, Lewis married Mary Ann Benson in Andover, VT, the mother of his son-in-law. They were married for nearly 13 when Lewis died of Malaria in October of 1897.
