Bio

Civil War veteran: He enlisted on December 19, 1861 as a Private in Company E of the 93rd New York Infantry. He was mustered out on April 17, 1863 at Falmouth, Virginia. Son of Otis Taft and Charlotte Sprague Taft. Austin married Sarah L. Strange on November 23, 1958 in either Poultney or Castleton, Vermont.
