Butler Sr., 80, will be at 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, at the Gospel Tabernacle Church of Jesus Christ with Bro. Jimmy Morris and the Rev. Jane Butler will officiate. Interment will be at Ringling Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home. Born Sept. 26, 1921, in Healdton, to Elmer C. and Lillie Mae Albin Butler, he died Feb. 5, 2002, in Carter County. Dale, or "Pete" as many called him, grew up south of Ringling. He deeply loved the area and the people here. Most of them are related to him, and he never had anything to say about anyone but good. There were seven boys and two girls in the family and Dale and his older brother Jim had to work in the fields and with the livestock to help support the family. Dale went to school at Union Hill, Center Point, Nocona and Ringling where he loved and participated in boxing, wrestling and football. He as an avid sportsman who really loved fishing, hunting and trapping. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, fighting with Patton at Hurricane Forest and Normandy. Married to Josette Johnson on Sept. 21, 1946, in Carlsbad, N.M., he worked in the oilfields as an electrician lineman for a few years, but for almost 37 years, he and Josette owned and operated the Dairy King in Ringling, along with working with his cattle and his garden. He attended the Church of Jesus Christ with his wife for many years. He loved his grandchildren, Melody and Warren, and great-grandchildren, Zack, Josh, Ashland, Bailey and Hailey. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1992; his mother, Lillie Mae Albin Butler Shelton; his father, Elmer C. Butler; a sister, Mary; and three brothers, Paul, George and Buck. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Jane Butler of Ringling; a sister, Lillian Jobe of Del City; three brothers, Alfred of Ardmore, Jim of Newalla, and Walter of Walters; two grandchildren, Melody and husband, Sean Storie, and Warren Butler; five great-grandchildren, Zack, Hailey and Bailey, and Ashland and Josh. Bearers will be Allen Wade, Patrick Stewart, Chris Morris, Jeff Whatley, Jarvis Whatley and Robert Peck. Honorary bearers are Jake Wade, Harley Stewart, Don Patrick, Bobby Jackson, Billy Mosier and Junior Whatley.
