Bio

Dorothy Rae Strohman, 85, died on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at the Washakie Medical Center. Dorothy was born on June 15, 1922 in Cheyenne County, Neb. to John H. and Della F. (Doremus) Quick. Dorothy's father passed away when she was only 18 months old. Her mother later married Frank Loveland, who raised her as his own. She received her early education in the country schools near her home. Dorothy married Herman Strohman on July 26, 1937 in Yoder, Wyo. To this union were born 15 wonderful children. The family lived in Lingle, Wyo. until 1953 when they moved to the Big Horn Basin, where they chose to raise their family. They lived in various communities until 1975 when they moved to Worland. Herman passed away on Oct. 18, 1992. They had been married for 55 years. Dorothy was a professional cook. She worked for the Washakie Grill and also for Ram's Horn Café for many years. She taught her children at very young ages how to cook and sew. Her children were very involved in 4-H, so Dorothy became a 4-H leader and taught in many areas. She was a beautiful seamstress and an award-winning doll maker. She loved flowers, doing word puzzles and ceramics. Her family was everything to her and she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dorothy had a tremendous sense of humor that helped her through life's trying times. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Herman, brothers and sisters, Crystal Cramer, Jack, Delane and Ted Loveland, June Wunder, and Harold Quick; son-in-law, Donald Kiser; grandson: Leonard Heiss, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Chris Martin and Tanna Hutch. She is survived by 15 children, Barbara (Jerry) Dye of Los Lunas, N.M., Sharon (Leonard) Heiss of Worland, Sandra Strohman of Holcyn, Calif., Jake (Marjorie) Strohman of Cheyenne, Susan (John) Schreiber of Billings, Robert (Andrea) Strohman of Casper, Merry (Ron) Marcus of Casper, Hope (Steve) Kiser of Lansing, Kan., Michael Strohman of Helena, Mont., Marvin Strohman of Albuquerque, N.M., Debra (Robert) Cullimore of Apache Junction, Ariz., Pamela (Richard C.)
