Mr. Benjamin "Bennie" Oran Cyphert of 314 South St., Clarion, died suddenly at 9 a.m. Thursday, March 24, in his home. He was 82 years of age. He was born in Clarion on August 12, 1877, the son of Anthony R. and Ellen Lewis Cyphert. On January 20, 1901 he was married to Jeanette I. Beck, who preceded him in death in 1956. Mr. Cyphert will be remember as a member of the original fife and drum band in Clarion, which has been a marching unit in the Autumn Leaf Festivals of Clarion and received large ovations. Mr. Cyphert was a painter and paper hanger by trade. He was a member of the Baptist Church, Clarion. Surviving are one daughter, Viola M., at home; three sons, Ronald S. and Roland A., both of Clarion, and Benjamin E. of Knox. Ten grandchildren also survive, as do two sisters, Mrs. Liza Williams of Shady Avenue, Clarion and Mrs. Anna Turner of Clearfield. Preceding him in death besides his wife, were a daughter, Margaret, who died in 1944, and a son, Grant, died in 1910. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, in the Goble Funeral Home with the Rev. Howard C. Blanchard officiating. Interment will be made in the Clarion Cemetery.
