Bio

Malcolm Kenneth Condie Our husband and father, Malcolm Kenneth Condie, passed away on July 3, 2004, at his home with his family surrounding him. Dad was born on April 19, 1924, to Kenneth P. Condie and Zina Childs Condie, in Springville, Utah. He lived in Springville his entire life. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy, from January 18, 1942, through September 7, 1945. He graduated from Utah State University. Dad married Lorna Metcalf on May 23, 1947, and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple, April 26, 1951. He worked at U.S. Steel, and retired in 1981. Dad was an active member of the LDS church, and served in many callings throughout his life. Dad was deeply patriotic and shared his love for his country with his children and grandchildren. He had a strong work ethic and worked the family farm until he was no longer physically able. His greatest joys and accomplishments were his wife of 57 years, six children, 23 grandchildren, and 31 great grandchildren. He will be remembered for his honesty, generosity, his quick wit, and sense of humor. Dad and Mom have shared a special bond for over 50 years with their group of friends, ?The Dinner Group.? Mom would like these people to know how much their friendship and support have meant to Dad over those many years. Dad is survived by his loving wife, Lorna; and daughters: Susan (Gary) DeRose, Kristine (Bruce) Marshall, Patricia (Reed) Robbins, Brenda (Scott) Bales; and his son, Kenneth (Calleen) Condie; also, his sisters: Aileen (Robert) Conrad, Carol Manwaring, and Mary Jane (Ben) Olsen; and his life-long friend, Don (Phyllis) Frandsen. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Calleen; and grandchildren: Haylee, Sheridan, and John; sisters: Lenore, Eulalia; and brother, John. Graveside services will be held July 6, 2004, at the Evergreen Cemetery in Springville, Utah, at 2 p.m. Our family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Hospice of Utah. We would also like to extend our deepest gratitude to all those at Hospice of Utah, and to Dads special friend, Cleston Steele.
