Aileen C. Conrad Mar. 23, 1918 ~ Feb. 14, 2010 Aileen Condie Conrad, 91, passed away Feb. 14, 2010 in Delta. Born March 23, 1918 in Springville to Kenneth P. and Zina Childs Condie. Aileen grew up in Springville and graduated Springville High School in 1937. Received Bachelor of Arts degree from BYU in 1940 in English Literature and Education. Accomplished musician, played violin in university symphony and sang in university's opera productions. After graduating BYU, Aileen taught school at McGill, NV, where she met her future husband, Robert J. Conrad. They married in Deming, NM on July 21, 1943. The family moved to Bay area of California in 1949, then to Darien, Conn, in 1956. In Oct. of 1958, the family moved to EskDale in west Millard County the place of Aileen's residence until moving to Millard County Care Center in April of 1999. Aileen taught grades 1-4 in EskDale Elementary at EskDale for 27 years. Her ability to teach reading was legendary and numbers of students she taught piano and violin was truly prodigious. She made clothes, cut hair and did anything else that was needed to be done. Was one of the last true pioneer women. Loved her family and students with a fierce love that continues to bless those so favored. Loved the Lord with all her heart and her favorite scripture was "Owe no man anything but to love him." Survived by the love of her life, Robert J. Conrad. Preceded in death by parents and all her siblings. Together Robert and Aileen had eight children: Linda (Dean) Chiquette; Colleen (Sam-deceased) Faber; James Conrad; John (Joie) Conrad; Joanne (Scott) Anderson; Kathy Narvaez; Tim (Gloria) Conrad; and Melodie (David) Graber. Aileen is survived by 33 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Memorial Service: Saturday, Feb. 20, 3:30 pm at EskDale Auditorium at EskDale, UT. All are invited.
