Agnes Gentry, age 84, of Megargel, Texas, died Monday, February 25, 2008, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Rosary will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 28, 2008 at St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Olney. Funeral Mass will be said at 2:30 p.m. with Father Raymund Mullan, officiating. Interment will follow in the Megargel Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home. Mrs. Gentry was born December 26, 1923 in Megargel, Texas to the late Jerry R. and Lillie A. (Cernosek) Miller. She and James "Shorty" Gentry were married December 31, 1939 in Archer City, Texas. He preceded her in death on June 29, 1986. She was a nurse's aid and a homemaker. She was a member of St. Mary's of the Assumption Catholic Church in Megargel for many years, a lifetime member of the KJZT Society No. 64, and the Catholic Family Fraternal of Texas. In latter years she moved her membership to St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Olney. She had lived in Megargel all of her lifetime. She was preceded in death by one son Joe Allen Gentry in December 1975, one brother Jerry F. Miller in March 1999, and one sister Georgie Miller in 1930. Survivors include one son, James Lee "Red" Gentry of Megargel; three daughters, Florene Berend and husband Martin of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Mary Hutchings and husband Rick of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Annette Gentry of Gainesville, Texas; two brothers, Henry A. Miller and wife Paula of Dallas, Texas and Richard S. Miller and wife Clara of Ennis, Texas; two sisters, Helen Shaffer of Wichita Falls, Texas and Rose Kulhanek and husband Charlie of Megargel, Texas; nine grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6 ~ 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
