Bio

Joe Clinton Slough was born October 13, 1936, to Elmer and Gladys (Lowe) Slough. He went to be with our Lord on December 27, 2022, at the age of 86. He was born in Hill County and raised in Gholson and Abernathy, Tx. He married the love of his life Joy Earleen Watson on January 8, 1956. Joe had many jobs throughout his life but mainly he was a carpenter. If he wasn't building it or re-modeling it, he was dreaming it up. He always had a set of plans he was working on either on paper or in his mind. Even in the last hours of his last days he was planning on re-modeling the bathroom in their home to make it easier on him during his sickness. If you didn't keep a close eye on him, you were liable to catch him on the top of the ladder or on the roof top even at the age of 86. He loved telling stories about his life. You just never knew how many embellishments he would add to those stories each time he told them or which version you might hear. But you would always hear a snicker when you walked away. He also had a quiet side. But don't be fooled when he was quiet didn't mean he wasn't listening and when he spoke it was something important and you needed to listen to what he had to say. He was a wise man and didn't give his opinion lightly. He was called Husband, Daddy, Pawpaw and to some Daddy-Joe. He will be missed dearly by his wife Earleen, his children Johnny and Carla Slough, Debbie and R.L. Roberts and Beverly Kirkland. Also missing him are his grandchildren: Renee' Roberts, Kara and Danny Buster, Cassie and Eric Lackey, Brandi Roberts, Clayton and Micala Roberts, Marla and Justin Bailey, John and Sarah Slough, Ryan and Taylor Kirkland. And his great grandchildren: Vanessa and Brian, Jaileigh, Macie, Bailey, Baylyn, Keagyn, Autumn, Stetson, Ty and Shelby, Garett, J.W., Carli, Addy, Alora, Carson, Cutter, Hanna, Taryn, Lynlee, Ila, Oren, Katie, Trenton, Wyatt There are also many other family members and friends that survive him. He was predeceased by his parents, four sisters, his in-laws Ray and Eletha Watson and son in law Mike Kirkland. Riley Funeral Home
