Bio

According to Ila Parks Claffee her Aunt Emma was a beautiful and fashionable woman that wore Paris fashions. "And she smoked." said Ila. It's not clear if it was a habit or an occasional cigarette. Tobacco was grown in the Carolinas by her ancestors the Maxwells and Hollingsworths. There's a picture postcard of Emma and Johnny taken about 1905 that proves her beauty. Johnny is also very nice looking. Leola Rayborn of Columbia, MS. had the original postcard that was mailed to her relative. Johnnie and Emma had 5 boys and 3 girls, one son died very young, Robert L. Parks lived 9 months and is buried near Emma at Macedonia Primitive Baptist Church in Newton county MS. Willie was born when Emma was 19 years old. Her last child Avert was born when she was 36. Emma died at the age of 43. She's buried in the Robinson Family plot at Macedonia Primitive Baptist Church cemetery south west of Decatur in Newton County, MS. Leola Rayborn was kind enough to give Lynda Betts (4th gr. grandaughter of Johnnie) the picture postcard of John and Emma Parks. Thanks to Ms. Leola for holding on to a bit of history for us to see. It had been mailed to her father about 1905. 1900 United States Federal Census Record Name: E C Parks Home in 1900: Beat 4, Newton, Mississippi Age: 26 Estimated birth year: 1874 Birthplace: Mississippi Race: White Relationship to head-of-house: Wife
