Shirley D. (Barnett) Gillen, 72, of Franklin, Indiana passed away Friday, November 15, 2013 at Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was born May 9, 1941 in Russell Springs, Kentucky to Denise Ben and Josie (Simpson) Barnett. She married Edward Gillen on May 20, 1975 in Franklin; he survives. She had been a waitress at Lotus Gardens Restaurant in Greenwood, Indiana. She loved gardening, sewing, and playing the piano. Survivors include her husband Edward Gillen of Franklin; three children, Jeff Richards (Cindy) of Greenwood, Mike Richards and Marlene Frazier (Richard), both of Franklin; three sisters, Rosie Warner, Susie York and Justine Johnson, all of Russell Springs, Kentucky; two brothers, Gene Barnett and Arlo Barnett, both of Russell Springs, Kentucky; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter Norma Mink; parents Ben and Josie (Simpson) Barnett; two brothers, James Barnett and Leon Barnett; and sister, Earlene Richardson. A service will be conducted Friday, November 22, 2013 at 6 P.M. at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin where friends may call from 3 P.M. Friday until service time at the mortuary. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
