Transcription of Obituary from The Bryan Daily Eagle, Monday, October 19, 1931 Pioneer citizen Of Brazos Dies At Noon Sunday In the passing of Columbus Risinger Sunday, October 18th at 12 o'clock noon, at the home of his brother, c. M. Risinger in the Steep Hollow community, Brazos county loses another of its old and beloved citizens,. Mr. Risinger was sick for only a few days but on account of advanced age he could not resist the ailment that proved fatal. Funeral services were held this afternoon at 2 o'clock from Steep Hollow Baptist church, with Rev. Charley E. Bullock, pastor of the First Baptist church of Hearne, conducting the funeral services. Mr. Risinger was born in the state of Alabama and at the time of his death was 81 years 9 months and 29 days of age. He had lived at Steep Hollow for 61 years. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Nat Risinger, pioneer settlers in the Steep Hollow community and who came to Texas in 1869. Columbus Risinger grew from boyhood into manhood in the same community and enjoyed the highest esteem of a wide circle of friends. He was never married and during the last years of his life made his home with his only living brother, C. M. Risinger on his farm at Steep Hollow. The deceased is survived by the one brother, C. M. Risinger, and four sisters, Mrs. R. J. Holligan [sic] and Mrs. J. E. Bullock of Steep Hollow ; Mrs. John Slaughter of Reliance, and Mrs. W. J. Thompson of North Zulch and a large number of nieces and nephews in Brazos county. Pall bearers at this funeral were six of his nephews as follows, Billy, Alton, Barley, Britton, Berry and Brady Risinger, all sons of Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Risinger in the home where this dear old uncle lived during his long and useful life.
