Bio

Son of Joseph & Lillian (Suchanek) Petska. Married to Alma Masin on 6-28-1938 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church at Ord, NE. In 1938, he was elected as Valley County surveyor as a write-in candidate. He was re-elected each and every term for 64 years. In 2002, he declined to run for a 17th term. He served a term as Valley County sheriffÕs deputy and worked at the Ord ASCS office. He also sold insurance and worked at the Grand Island Ordnance Plant. In 1978, he retired as the Valley County highway superintendent. He initiated the "Living Snowfence" project of Nebraska in 1975, and was recognized by the Nebraska State Legislature for his efforts. In addition, he planted thousands of trees for the benefit of wildlife.
