Bio

Mary Jean Reeve, 71, of Independence, Missouri passed away on May 14, 2014 in Independence. A Rosary and Christian Wake Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, May 19, 2014, at the Ord Memorial Chapel. Father Joshua Brown will officiate. Burial will be at the Ord Catholic Cemetery. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Mary Jean was born August 21, 1942 in Ord, Nebraska to Emanuel and Alma (Masin) Petska. She was raised in Ord and graduated from Ord High School in 1960. While in school, Mary was very active in all aspects of music and drama. She continued her love of music at Kearney State College where she received a music education degree in 1964. She was a member of the Delta Omicron International Music Sorority. She returned to college after her children were grown and received a degree in Elementary Education. In 1965, Mary married Ed Reeve and was blessed with two lovely children; Michael in 1970, and Karin in 1973. Mary was both a devoted mother and wife. Mary spread her love for music in several schools in Colorado and Wyoming. She was an active volunteer at the Children's Museum and a grandparent volunteer at West Elementary in Lander, Wyoming. She was involved in the Lights on Program and continued her appreciation for music and the arts by devoting her time as the President of the Lander Community Concert Association. Her talents and interests included writing poetry, photography, playing the piano, working crossword puzzles and baking prize winning bread. In her younger years she enjoyed hunting with her family. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Major Michael Alan and Stephanie Reeve of Highland, MI; a daughter, Karin Heather Roth and her fiancé Kip Rorrer of Sibley, MO; five grandchildren, Mackenzie, Joshua, Brayden, Kameron and Courtney; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ken and Evelyn Petska of Elyria and Roger and Cheri Petska of North Platte; two sisters and brothers-in-laws, Linda and Melvin Linke of Scotia, NE and Susan and Steve Pokorny of Lander, WY and a host of relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; Emanuel and Alma Petska, two nephews; Shane Petska and Josh Espinosa, and a niece; Amanda Petska.
